Each order required the details to be checked, documents to be prepared and the order to be passed on to the relevant supplier. In the case of made-to-measure furniture, this meant contacting each of the dozen or so suppliers individually.<\/p>\n      <p>On top of that, transport had to be booked manually with a carrier specialising in bulky consignments. Rising sales did not merely increase the number of orders; they also increased the number of repetitive tasks that the team had to carry out without a shared system.<\/p>\n      <p>The real problem was not the lack of another sales channel, but a process that was not ready for larger-scale operation. Without automation, the client would have had to take on more staff to manage it. Orders from both channels began to be routed to a single OMS \u2013 the order management system.<\/p>\n      <p>As part of the same process, we introduced automated invoicing, stock level updates and the synchronisation of consignment note numbers.
