Allegro changes API rules - sellers must prepare for new realities
Allegro has announced that changes to the REST API rules will come into effect from 23 September 2025. This is important news for all sellers and integration companies who have previously used API keys more extensively - including to copy listings to other marketplaces such as Empik or Erli. This will now be expressly forbidden, and breaking the rules can result in API access being blocked, account restrictions and even financial penalties.

What is changing in the regulations?
- API for Allegro only - the tool is intended to support sales on this platform, not to serve as a source of mass data export.
- Strict key control - each API key is assigned to a specific account and application, and its misuse violates the terms and conditions.
- More thorough verification - Allegro announces greater scrutiny of applications integrating with their system.
- Risk of sanctions - not only the loss of access to the API is at stake, but also the consequences for the vendor, including financial ones.
What does this mean in practice?
For integration companies and sellers, this means a change to the current working model. Until now, it was common to copy listings from Allegro to other platforms using the same API. Once the changes come in, such activities will become illegal. Multi-channel sellers will have to use other forms of integration: product files, dedicated feeds or solutions prepared individually by each platform. This is more work, but at the same time an opportunity to better tailor the offer to the audience of a given marketplace.

Why is Allegro tightening the rules?
Allegro stresses that their API was created to support their own platform and build a cohesive ecosystem. The idea is to ensure that data - descriptions, images, prices - are not used in an uncontrolled way.
The new rules have:
- improve the quality and consistency of content published on Allegro,
- minimise the risk of abuse and duplication of outdated offers,
- protect buyers from misleading information,
- maintain Allegro's competitive advantage against other marketplaces.
Implications for buyers and sellers
For buyers: greater certainty that listings are up-to-date and reliable, less duplicate and unclear content. This will improve the shopping experience and reduce the risk of wrong transactions.
For retailers: the need to prepare separate content (descriptions, images, feeds) for each platform. This requires additional resources, but allows communication to be better tailored to the specifics of the market in question.
Summary
The changes to Allegro's API regulations are a clear signal: the platform is committed to developing its own ecosystem and will not support actions that strengthen the competition. Sellers should prepare for the new realities now to avoid problems with account blocking or financial penalties.
