Allegro's big clean-up: The era of automation and the end of the era of manual linking of variants is coming

In the world of Polish e-commerce, stability is a relative term, and the coming months on the Allegro platform are proof of this. Poland's largest marketplace has announced a series of fundamental changes that will directly affect sales strategy, logistics costs and technical aspects of customer service. As an agency supporting the development of brands in the marketplace channel, we are closely following these modifications, as they require not only a technical adaptation of API systems, but above all a complete change in the philosophy of assortment and margin management.

No more manual bundling of offers: Multi-variants are a thing of the past

A key date on every seller's calendar should become 14 April 2026. This is when Allegro will definitively switch off its existing resources for manually creating and handling multi-variant listings. The era when it was up to the seller to decide how to group products based on colour or design is coming to an end, to be replaced by product variants generated automatically based on the Product Catalogue. This change is intended to standardise the shopping experience and relieve the burden on sellers, but for many businesses it means an urgent upgrade of the sales software is required. All existing API resources for creating, downloading or editing multi-variant offers have already been marked as obsolete, and after the deadline any attempt to invoke them will end with a „404 Not Found” error.

From an operational perspective, Allegro takes full responsibility for how products are grouped by variant. The system, based on precise parameters from the Catalogue, will itself decide which listings are versions of the same item. For sellers, this means the absolute necessity to take care of the impeccable quality of the product data, as this becomes the foundation of visibility. In the event of any discrepancies or the desire to modify these automatic links, users will be provided with a dedicated tool in the Sales Centre for making suggestions for changes, which definitely shifts the centre of gravity of offer management to the relationship with the central product database.

Logistics and pricing: March under the sign of automation and new rates

In parallel with the revolution in the listing structure, Allegro is forcing a clean-up in logistics, which comes into effect much sooner, as of 2 March. The platform aims to simplify shipping cost management as much as possible, introducing automatic updates to delivery charges to pick-up points and parcel machines outside of Smart! as part of Allegro Delivery. However, sellers need to be vigilant as not all changes will happen automatically. It will take until 2 March to update Allegro's Pocztex and overseas delivery rates on their own, which is critical to maintaining sales profitability in the face of changing logistics costs.

For companies that want to avoid tedious, manual updating of rates in the future, the safest solution is to convert custom price lists to so-called ready delivery price lists. Switching to this model before March will allow full automation of the processes, so that the system itself will ensure that price lists always meet Allegro Smart! conditions, have up-to-date maximum delivery rates and include the latest shipping methods made available by operators. It is worth remembering that from 2 March, the free delivery threshold in the Smart! - shoppers will benefit from it only from the amount of PLN 49.90, which forces us to recalculate the prices of products from the so-called low basket.

Financial breath: maximum commission rates (limits)

The most important news for retailers offering a more expensive range is the introduction from 2 March of the maximum commission rates. This is a real saving that will allow better margin planning for high unit value products. Allegro sets a commission „ceiling” above which the amount of the fee will not increase, regardless of the final price of the product.

For example, in categories such as Pressure washers, air conditioners or professional cleaning equipment, the commission will be 4.5%, but not more than PLN 250 net. In contrast, in specialist industries such as Welding or process furniture, this limit will be set at PLN 500 net. This is a strategic shift that makes Allegro a much more competitive venue for selling professional equipment and machinery. Similar improvements await the industry Winter sports, where the maximum commission will be cut at the level of PLN 140 net.

Don't be surprised by the changes - prepare now

The coming months are a time of intensive clean-up for sellers on Allegro. Although the automation of variants and price lists is ultimately supposed to simplify sales management, the process of switching to the new rules requires precision and technical knowledge. Every mistake in product parameters or oversight in price list update deadlines may result not only in the loss of the Smart! designation, but, above all, in a drop in the visibility of your listings.

At our agency, we continuously monitor every update to the platform so that our clients can focus on business development while we take care of the technical aspects of their presence on the marketplace.
