How do I list products on eMAG with Base. (BaseLinker)?

If you are selling online and want to reach Romanian customers, eMAG is the place not to miss. The platform is the largest marketplace in the region and, with the right approach, a really effective sales channel. But how do you get started if you are using Base. (formerly Baselinker)? And what does it even mean if a product is already in the eMAG catalogue?

Let's start with an important issue: productisation.

This word may sound technical, but it means something very practical and, most importantly, convenient. Productisation on eMAG means that your offer does not have to create a completely new product card if one already exists in the catalogue.

Instead of create from scratch - you attach your offer to the finished product. And that means one thing: you don't have to translate titles into Romanian or Hungarian, rewrite descriptions or worry about photos. Everything will be automatically assigned from an already existing product card.

Sounds great? Because that's exactly what it is. But how do we check whether a product is already in the eMAG catalogue when Base. - at least for today - does not offer a listing template that shows us the presence of a product in the eMAG system, as it does on Amazon?

The difference is very important because when listing on Amazon, we see a blue or red box, depending on whether our product is already on the platform, and when we click on it, we can see if the product data such as title or image match. When listing on eMAG, we do so „blindly”, which can result in the following erroneously combined product.

So how do I check if my product is on eMAG?

Here, you have to take a somewhat manual approach. In Base. this will not be checked offhand, so it is worth going directly to eMAG. Simply log into your account, go to the „Products” tab and then click on „Add product”. Paste the EAN code of the product you are interested in in the search field - and that's it. If the product exists, the system will find it. In this way, you can ensure that your listing is added to an existing product rather than generating a new, separate tab.

All you need is the EAN code - and the rest „happens on its own”.

Is productisation always the best option?

It is worth remembering that productisation - while convenient - is not always the ideal solution. In fact, by plugging into an existing product, you are attaching your offer to a single, shared card that shows all the offers from different retailers. And that means one thing: you start competing not only on the product, but above all on price and shipping time.

If your price is higher than a competitor's and on top of that, shipping takes longer - your offer will end up further down the list, significantly reducing the chance of a sale. Like on other platforms, eMAG's customers are looking for the best offer - that is, the one that combines a low price with fast delivery. That is why, if you decide to productise, you need to pay particular attention to these two elements. They determine whether your offer will be the one the customer clicks on.

There are also times when a product in the eMAG catalogue does not have the best description and the pictures leave a lot to be desired - in which case it is worth considering listing the product as new in order to have a greater impact on its presentation. But about when to choose productisation and when to go your own way, we are happy to advise you individually. It all depends on strategy, margins, competition and... patience.

If you are not sure which path is best for your product range - get in touch. We will analyse your offer, check out the competition and propose a solution that simply worth it.
